GOUT

What is Gout?

​

Gout is a form of arthritis that causes pain and swelling in your joints (usually your big toe). It is caused by an excess of uric acid in the blood, leading to the formation of sharp, needle-like crystals in the joints.

Study Purpose

Research the effectiveness of the study medication with serum uric acid and urinary urate excretion in patients with gout and hyperuricemia.

Requirements

​

· 18 – 85 years of age

· BMI < 50

· Must be diagnosed with Gout

Major Disqualifications

​

· Oral steroids within 1 month of screening

· Rheumatoid Arthritis

· Cancers/Tumors within 5 years.

Study Appointment Schedule

 

Appointments are every two weeks during screening and month 1, then monthly for

6 months

Duration

 

Up to 56 days and will include approximately 1 return visit to the study center, 2 overnight stays, and one 8 to 9-night admission.
