Bunion Removal

What is a Bunion?

Is a bump on the side of the big toe. 
It happens when the big toe starts to bend toward the other toes. 

The area can become sore, swollen, or painful, especially when wearing tight shoes. 

Study Purpose

Demonstrate that the study medication works better at preventing pain after surgery than the medications currently available.

Requirements

  • 18 years or older

  • Overall healthy or with well-controlled medical conditions

  • Body Mass Index (BMI) less than 40

  • Willing to undergo bunion surgery

Major Disqualifications

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding

  • Significant heart, liver, or kidney disease

  • Sleep apnea

  • Chronic painful conditions that require regular pain medication

  • Cancer diagnosed within the last 2 years

Study Appointment Schedule

 

Screening visit, hospital stay for 72 hours after surgery, and follow-up outpatient visits on days 5, 6, 8, and 43.

Duration

Approximately 6 weeks
