Venous Thromboembolism prevention (VTE)
After major orthopedic surgeries like knee replacement, patients have a higher risk of developing blood clots if preventive treatment is not used. VTE is a blood clot that formed in a vein. A piece of clot may break lose and this is called an embolus. Some treatments are more effective at preventing clots, while others may carry a higher risk of bleeding.
